She hid behind the door as two guards came within eyesight, and upon noticing she was in a male restroom, she took refuge within one of its stalls. Nearly dropping one of her bags, she looked for an escape, passing through the first door she set eyes on the moment she turned. Halfway down the hall, a faint echo of voices rounded the corner growing louder the closer it came. Sending goosebumps shivering down her arms and legs at the pleasant thought of it all. Her abdomen welled up with such a warm sensation of comfort. Marinating her tongue with jelly filling as her cheeks packed with fluffy bread and sprinkles. Practically tasting their mouthwatering glaze coating or chocolatey dipped surfaces. The princess walked with a spring in her step, eager to simply taste one of these donuts in the comfort of her own room. Confidently, she walked down the larder, past the kitchens, and down a long hallway scot free. Leaving the princess a clear way to the rotating stairwell that leads to her room without anypony spotting her. Finishing all urgent business early, she postponed all minor business for the following day and allowed the servants a whole day off. The servants quarters provided her safe entry into the castle her guards mostly patrolling the front entrance and the servants themselves nowhere in sight. Prompting her to grip her payload tighter as she bobbed and weaved to avoid being seen. Her eyes lit up with excitement upon peeking inside each bag. The multitude of different flavors caused her to sigh with bliss, it’s mouthwatering scent like a perfume she can taste. Once free of the putrid smells of trash and dingy water, the piping hot aroma of fresh donuts brushed against her face. Watching Joe walk back to his shop, she waited for him to get back inside before she rounded the corner and snuck between buildings leading up to the castle. “Well, if you need anymore donuts just ask, or er.send another letter.” “Sure thing princess, it's an honor,” Joe placed his hands on his hips, “So, uh, you having a party or something?” “Thank you so much Joe, this truly means alot to me.” “Sorry I’m late princess,” Joe handed her each bag, “I had to whip up some freshly glazed donuts, nice and soft, just for you.”Ĭelestia fidgeted around with each bag, underestimating just how large they were in her slender arms. Arms cradling two hefty paper bags like he had just returned from the grocery store. He looked in the surrounding area to confirm nopony had sight of him before heading over to the alley. She didn’t know, with the end of daylight fast approaching all she could do was tap her hooves and bite her nails as anxiety welled up inside her.īlowing a sigh of relief, the pressure in her chest dissipated upon seeing Joe’s head peep out the back door. Perhaps the mail got lost in transit, or her handwriting was too pretty for him to read. It had been at least fifteen minutes since she made her order, writing it to Joe in secret and having a mail pony deliver it directly to him. So long as nopony was around to judge her gracing her pristine lips with such lowely confections.Ī drop of perspiration grazed her brow, eyes fixed on the donut shop’s back entrance. It was the price to pay in order to rediscover what she felt back on the island. No pony would expect to find their radiant princess hiding behind a rancid dumpster, cringing with disgust while lifting her elegant dress to avoid puddles of sludge lining the concrete floor. The therapist pony’s words still buzzed around in Celestia’s head as she hid in an alleyway across from Donut Joe’s shop. Mid day bid farewell over Canterlot as the sun was just beginning its descent into the dawn. File type: Text File (.txt) - Chapter 3: Change
